Not everyone wants to tell the world that they have braces. So at South Gippsland Dental Clinic, we offer alternative options to conventional metal braces.
Invisalign®
Invisalign® is a virtually invisible type of orthodontics. Invisalign® has been designed to give people an option to straighten their teeth without the obvious metal and wire that we see in conventional braces.
Invisalign® consists of a number of medical grade, plastic clear aligners, each set of aligners are individually manufactured to move your teeth bit by bit each week until you have achieved your perfect alignment of teeth.
The length of treatment depends on each individual’s teeth alignment and usually varies from 3 to 24 months.
When the Invisalign® treatment is completed it is important that you retain your new teeth alignment, you can do this by getting a mould taken of your teeth and fabricating an individualised retainer that you wear each day for a number of years.
Lingual Braces
Lingual Braces is another option for those who would like to explore options rather than the traditional braces. Lingual Braces look like conventional braces but are mounted on the back side of the tooth.
While Lingual braces are positioned on the opposite side of the tooth to conventional braces, both types of braces share many similarities such as the brackets, wires and bands you would normally see.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic Braces are very similar to conventional braces only the brackets are made from a clear ceramic material making them blend in with the teeth and are less visible than conventional braces.
